Stay connected with your circles and Kizu connections through built-in messaging with photos, stickers, voice messages, reactions, and AI-powered features.
Chat Tabs
The Chat screen has two tabs:
- Circles — Group conversations with your circle members
- Kizus — Direct one-on-one conversations with your Kizu connections
Tap any conversation to open it. Use the search bar to find conversations by name.
Sending Messages
Type your message and tap send. You can also share:
- Photos & Videos — Tap the + button to share from your camera roll or take a new photo
- Stickers — Tap the smiley face to browse animated stickers
- Voice Messages — Hold the microphone button to record and send voice messages
Reactions
React to any message with emoji:
- Tap the smiley + icon next to any message
- Select an emoji reaction
- Reactions appear below the message with a count
Multiple people can react to the same message. Tap an existing reaction to add yours.
Replying to Messages
Reply to a specific message to keep conversations organized:
- Long-press the message you want to reply to
- Tap the reply button
- A preview of the original message appears above the input
- Type your reply and send
Your reply appears with a quoted preview of the original. Tap the preview to jump to the original message.
Message Translation
Chat with family and friends who speak different languages. Kizu automatically translates messages so everyone sees the conversation in their preferred language.
- Open a conversation
- Tap the settings gear icon
- Enable Auto-Translate
- Choose your preferred language
Incoming messages are translated into your language. Tap a translated message to see the original text. A flag icon shows the original language.
For real-time voice translation, use the Live Translate feature from the conversation settings — ideal for in-person conversations across language barriers.
Calendar & Event Detection
Kizu's AI automatically detects events mentioned in your chat messages:
- AI Detection — When someone mentions a date, time, or event (e.g. "Let's meet Thursday at 3pm"), Kizu suggests creating a calendar event
- Calendar Banner — Upcoming events appear at the top of the chat as a tinted banner showing today's or the next day's events
- Event Cards — AI-suggested events appear as amber/gold cards in chat. Tap Confirm to add to the calendar or Dismiss to remove
- Calendar Subscription — Subscribe to the conversation's calendar via webcal:// for automatic sync with Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook
- Reminders — Each event includes a configurable reminder (default 30 minutes before) that carries through to your subscribed calendar
To enable the calendar for a conversation, tap the settings gear and toggle Calendar on. Circle chats have it enabled by default.
Sharing Rich Content
Share more than text and photos:
- Addresses — Send a location that appears as a tappable map card. Tap to open in your maps app.
- Calendar Events — Share event details including title, date, time, and venue as an interactive card.
- Album Links — Share a Kizu album as an inline link so others can jump straight to it.
- Website Links — URLs automatically show rich previews with title and thumbnail.
Siri & Hands-Free
Send messages hands-free using Siri:
- "Send a Kizu to [name]" — Siri finds the conversation and sends your message
- CarPlay & AirPods — Incoming Kizu messages can be announced and read aloud by Siri on CarPlay, AirPods, and other compatible devices
Message Search
Find any message across your conversations:
- Tap the search icon in the conversation
- Type your search query
- Results are highlighted in the conversation
